Insight
I could start off by telling you that "Baise Moi" is at the cutting edge of artist interpretation. I could say that it is a film that elevates women to new heights in society. I might add that it has a dialogue that is enticingly delicious and that the cinematography is something to rave about. Finally like many excellent films "Baise Moi" has one of the most sintilating sound tracks heard in a long, long while. Oh and I forgot that the one big plus is that this is a film of such high moral standards that it should be recognized by, not only the film industry but society at large for its tremendous contribution to the values that society really cherishes. Wait, I forgot one important factor. Naughty me. Don't forget that fearless group of faceless people, those hard working men and women from the film board who had the balls [sorry ladies] to allow us to see such an engrossing and utterly marvellous piece of cineme mastery, a film of voluminous magnitude. But that would be a total lie. "Baise Moi" is really just a trashy piece of crap that unfortunately has very little in the way of redeeming values. In fact I'd go so far as to say that if this is the new standards the film board are setting then perhaps we should release XXX videos again because I am sure that they would prove to be of a far higher quality, far better content, a better lashing of raunchy full on penetration in all forms, far better in artistic content and dare I say it [in conext of this review] better talking women who can mange to get their lines out crisply and clearly even though their mouths are full. Of course there are some "critics" who will argue that this is very confronting film, about society in general, about the welfare state and a reflection of life in France itself. Yeh, yeh , yeh. The world is full of excuses and life is becoming too confrontational as it is and we can all get a daily dose of demons from watching the nightly television news. This reviewer is certainly not advocating "censorship" but rather good judgement!!
Inside Baise Moi
So what do you get in a dose of "Blaise Moi"? First you don't get quality acting. This is a pretty basic dialogue. No big name actors or actress's. Lets face it, no self respecting actor of any ilk would be seen dead in a film like this. You do get a pretty shitty, rasping soundtrack without any volume control that runs rampant throughout "Baise Moi". It [the soundtrack] is not only bloody awful, its bloody aggravating. You get to see plenty of shoot em up voilence. There's a double rape scene involving two women. There's full penetration here [and throughout the film] and to make it an even better afront to decent women of all ages who have suffered at the hands of a perpetrator one of the rapists in this scene kindly uses a condom. Then there's ejeculation to the face and to the buttocks. Sounds exciting doesn't it. Thats what some would like you to think, but don't be fooled. In a sex club our women killers on the run kill every client then ask a surviving male to drop his pants, get on all fours, grunt like a pig and he is then shot through the anus. Thats enough to bring tears to you eyes. Oh dear, oh dear, "Baise Moi" isn't even sensationalism. I'm certainly no prude and I've lived a full life like many people but it does worry me that standards are dropping in the name of "artistic content". Of course the even bigger worry is that anyone who questions the actions of the film board are branded as prudes, the one thing that I could never be accused off. No I just find it one hell of a laugh that people would waste $14 going to see this crap when they can sneak an order off to Canberra or Darwin and buy a "dirty" XXX video which would be better value.
The Story
Thanks to a very difficult life Manu [Raffaella Anderson] and Nadine [Karen Bach] have the perfect excuse to go on a sexual, killing frenzy across France. "Baise Moi" [Fuck Me] takes us into a world of despair, living on social welfare, prostitution and drugs all of which drives two very normal girls to a life of crime, drugs, unbridled sexual depravity and serial killing. With the police hot on their trail, how long can they survive!
The Verdict
"As far as value for money is concerned this is one film that will leave you feeling cheated. Forget the hype about the sex scenes, you've most probably seen more exciting ones in your bedroom mirror. Strong graphics, sexual penetration and violence abound in this crappy, trashy film which is NOW BANNED
