Insight
Standy by for the big adrenilin rush because the best thriller in years is about to hit the screen. The Crimson Rivers starring Jean Reno, Vincent Cassel and Nadia Fare`s may be French, it may have english subtitles but when it comes to suspense, intrigue and chilling images it's a top of the tree production. Adapted from the novel by Jean-Christophe Grange` in collaboration with Mathieu Kassovitz, The Crimson Rivers will have you on the edge of your seat with powerful images, a haunting soundtrack that will bring you to the boil [original music composed by Bruno Coulias]and brutal murder scenes as a killer uses victims bodies to send a message to those who are in pursuit of perpetrator of these murderous deeds. With a backdrop of snow capped mountains, the snow, rain and sleet all add an extra sense of gloom and foreboding to the settings used in this film. Two criminal investigations, on the same day but 300 kilometres apart will soon see Commissaire Pierre Niémans [Jean Reno] and Lieutenant Max Kerkerian [Vincent Cassel] forced to team up and track down a brutal killer who has left the first victim horribly brutalized and suspended naked on a sheer cliff face 150 feet above the valley floor and not far from a nearby University. Niémans is sent to Guernon from Paris to investigate. He's a loner but a very shrewd investigator who soon works out the killer is using these victims to send a deliberate message. Meanwhile Kerkerian is investigating the desecration of a young girls tomb. Its not long before the trail they are both following leads then to the same person. Forced together, they set out to find the killer.
