"On a purely cinematic level, the film is indeed triumphant, with wildly inventive
player-perspective footage that brilliantly conveys the rush of game-time action,
and an expert's grasp of multilayered storytelling."

"Raucous, violent, in-your-face and occasionally advancing like a punch to the belly."

The Story
Fans of director Oliver Stone and Al Pacino will be over the moon with Any Given Sunday. Whether your an american football fan or not, it doesn't really matter much in this fast paced, action movie that cuts to the heart of americas number one game, football. Brilliantly shot, Stone attacks our senses as hard as the players attack their opponents combining closeup images that portray the guts, glory and pain that comes with winning and losing. Off field, the action is just as tough, with Cameron Diaz starring as the ruthless team owner whose only interest is in winning at all cost, James Woods as the team doctor who will "doctor" anything to keep the men playing and Dennis Quaid as the quarterback who, suffering injury and at the twighlight of a great career is under pressure on the field and at home. Its a great cast headed by Pacino whose presence on screen is just as big as can be. His passion and ideals may seem to be out of date in the modern world but its all he knows until Willie Beamen(jamie Foxx) comes on the scene. This is a turning point for both coach, player and the two stars as they go head to head both on and off the field. Plenty of surprises, including the movies closing minutes.
