The Story Based on the novel by Wang Dulu, The Golden Globe winner for best director and best foriegn film, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a wonderful example in cinematography. Breathtaking scenes include unbelievable martial art clashes and majestic scenery coupled to subtle comedy that fits snugly in to the dialogue of this wonderful movie. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is the story of two great love affairs and the search for a jade sword named Green Destiny. Li Mubai (Chow Yun Fat) has his beloved Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) take the sword to Peking where it is presented to Sir Te (Sihung Lung). It is soon to be stolen, returned and then stolen again in a plot hatched by Jade Fox (Pei-pei Cheng) the arch enemy of Li Mu Bai. Li has pursued Jade Fox to avenge the death of his master at her hands and the theft of sacred manuals of combat. Finally they will meet.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is the pursuit of evil in an effort to retrieve the Green Jade sword that unfolds on the screen as a story of love, intrigue and tragedy that will keep you enthralled from start to finish. Directed by Ang Lee there isn't a flat spot to be found in this emotion charged film that is exciting while poignant and destined to become a timeless masterpiece with a place of its own in cinema history.
