"Well-made, straightforward and entertaining."
Roger Ebert CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
"Fans of Robert Rodriguez’s “Spy Kids” franchise (well, the first two installments) will appreciate the technological eye candy employed by “Catch.” There are motorized go-carts and death-defying climbing routines carried out in the heart of a high-tech bank vault."
Sean O'Connell ECLIPSE MAGAZINE
"An entertaining family film that has as much appeal for girls as boys."

"It’s refreshing to see a girl front and center in a film like this. Revamping a Danish film called Klatretosen, director Bart Freundlich makes Catch That Kid more absorbingly character-driven and less techno than most kiddie caper films. David Noh FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL
There's plenty of good films around keeping the kids entertained in the holiday breaks and while this one isn't in the 'big' league of kiddie flicks, "Catch That Kid' is still one the youngsters will get a fair bit out of. Obviously aimed at the under 14 teeners, "Catch That Kid" will have plenty of appeal to the 'girlfriends brigade' with Kristen Stewart [of Panic Room fame] in the lead role. And while there's lots of action, hi-tech wizardry, a chase sence involving police cars and the kids in Go-Karts, there is a moral to this tale, there's no excuse for doing the wrong thing even if you believe you are doing it for a just cause. I make that assumption based on the feedback from parents and having noted what most critics have picked up on, the mixed message provided by "Catch That Kid". How come these kids don't get punished. Sure in the end, there's a mushy, feel good finale` that sees everything ending well, but there are a lot of manipulative messages tagged into the film. The important message missing in this film is this; "do the crime, do the time" and that there should be no excuse for the misguided exhuberance of youth, something all good parents need to reinforce to their young charges. After all, "Catch That Kid" is rated 'PG'. Look, as long as those future grownups understand that in real life you don't get away with manipulating your friends into a criminal act; you don't think the easy way out is to steal; you do get punished for breaking the law; they will still see "Catch That Kid" as a good fun, fantasy experience.

The Story
The kids, especially Stewart, who played Jodie Foster's daughter in "Panic Room," are all engaging without being cutesy. They play their parts, incredible as they may be, with a straightforward earnestness. " Paula Nechak SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER
Inside 80 stories of reinforced steel, guarded by a state of the art safe, lies the one thing they need most. There is not a pro in the world who could ever break in. But these are not pro's. Maddy's father is suddenly struck down after being injured in a recent climbing accident. Now paralyzed, the family is forced to try and raise $250,000 for an experimental operation. When the insurance company and the bank won't come up with the money, Maddy convinces her friends Gus and Austin to help her heist the money from the bank in a hi-tech, daring, Mission Impossible style robbery. Can the they succeed?
The Verdict
"This ones purely for the kids and mostly those under fourteen years of age. Young girls will get a thrill out of seeing one of their own in the lead role and doing a pretty reasonable job. Not in the same league as Spy-Kids or Codie Banks, but does it have to be? No! There's just enough in "Catch That Kid" to keep the younger citizens entertained."
