A mysterious virus has devastated civilization, turning its victims into flesh-eating monsters without memories of their past lives. What is left of humanity is holed up in heavily fortified bunkers where they live in fear of their former loved ones. But all that changes when a ravenous zombie hunting party crosses paths with a human reconnaissance crew scavenging supplies. R, a soulful zombie, is so captivated by the lovely and living Julie that, instead of eating her brains, he saves her from being consumed by his companions. Taking her back to the zombie-ridden airport he calls home, R hides Julie in an abandoned 747 filled with treasures he has collected during his hunting expeditions: vinyl records, snow globes, musical instruments and other lost relics of a saner time. Over the next few days in their surprisingly cozy hideaway, the feisty Julie awakens long-forgotten feelings in R, while she begins to realize there is more to him than a vacant stare and a slow-motion shuffle. Confused by her feelings, Julie returns to the safety of her walled-off city. Meanwhile R is having a change of heart, experiencing feelings he never thought possible. Could love be the zombies salvation? "While it is witty with plenty of laugh out loud moments thanks to it's great one-liners, it remains faithful to the genre". Good fun! 4 STARS

The hunt for Osama bin Laden preoccupied the world and two American presidential administrations for more than a decade. But in the end, it took a small, dedicated team of CIA operatives to track him down. Every aspect of their mission was shrouded in secrecy. While some of the details have since been made public, many of the most significant parts of the intelligence operation: including the central role played by the Navy SEAL Team 6 in May, 2011, are brought to the screen for the first time in a nuanced and gripping new film by the Oscar® winning duo of Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal. Their account of bin Laden’s pursuit and capture, vivid yet faithful to the facts, takes viewers inside the hubs of power and to the front lines of this historic mission, culminating in the special operations assault on a mysterious, suburban Pakistani compound. But it is the lead-up to the raid that truly distinguishes Zero Dark Thirty from other accounts. The quest to find bin Laden was fraught with danger from the start (not every U.S. operative survived). Some intelligence experts came to believe that the assignment was impossible to carry out, but on the ground a determined team of analysts and interrogators defied the odds and proved them wrong. "From it's opening to its end, it will keep you glued to the screen." 4 1/2 STARS

Dylan and Jamie aren't in a settling-down frame of mind. When New York-based executive recruiter Jamie targets her considerable headhunting skills on luring hotshot LA-based art director Dylan to a dream job in the Big Apple, they quickly realize what kindred spirits they are. They've each been through so many failed relationships that they're ready to give up on love and focus on having fun. When Dylan moves to New York and the pair start hanging out regularly, they share plenty of laughs over a twin belief that love is a myth propagated by Hollywood movies. That's when these two begin a decidedly grown-up experiment: a no strings attached commitment. But, can these two fast friends: who are successful, unattached, and scornful of commitment; explore new terrain, while avoiding all the pitfalls that come with their bold move to a bawdy, sexy ride into uncharted territory? If your brain is located in your groin, you'll love it! Obviously aimed at a sexually charged teen audience. 1 1/2 STARS.
Night in the mining town of Dampier, Western Australia. A dog lies in the backroom of the town's only pub, dying. Not just any dog, but the most loved and infamous dog of the entire Pilbara region: Red Dog. Slowly through the night word spreads and people from the town gather in the pub. Part vigil, part wake, part celebration, they swap stories of Red Dog's life, his rise to fame, his glories and tragedies. Red Dog had first hitched a ride into Dampier some ten years earlier with publican Jack and wife Maureen. At the time, Dampier was more outpost than town and Red Dog's rangy personality matched the spirit of the land and the colourful characters who came from throughout the world looking for work. Red Dog endeared himself to (almost) everyone who crossed his path including Peeto, a large brash man with a surprisingly soft and gentle heart; Vanno, an Italian who Red Dog helps find love; and Jocko, a miner with a dark, disturbing past. When Red Dog came across new bus driver John, he finally had a master. All those who have been moaning about a lack of quality 'aussie' films, can now put there money behind this entertaining film. 4 1/2 STARS.

While I've never rated the movies highly, it's kudos to Rowlings and everyone involved. 3 1/2 STARS.
Apollo 11 is about to go dark. The world has lost touch with the capsule as it heads for the Moon's surface. Little do they know, that President John F Kennedy has ordered a secret mission to investigate a crash site, detected way back in 1961. The mission reports no survivors, photographs the site and returns to Earth. Decades later after surviving two attacks by the Decepticons, the world will face its greatest threat, thanks to the mismanagement of Secretary of Defense, Charlotte Mearing. Fresh out of college, Sam Witwicky has a presidential medal, anew girlfriend, but no job: until Bruce Brazos employs him. Here he meet Jerry Wang who has a dossier on 'the dark side of the moon mission'. Autobots leader Megatron is sent to investigate the crashed spacecraft on the moon but finds he has been manipulated by, not only the humans they have been protecting, but also the Decepticons. The Bayrichter level? This is almost off the scale! Far better than the awful 'ROTF'. 4 1/2 STARS.

"Bridesmaids" is far funnier than "The Hangover II". Raunchy, naughty, sweet & funny. 4 1/2 STARS.

Set in a remote town on Australia’s spectacular and rugged WA coastline in the early ‘70s, "Drift" tells the story of two brothers at the genesis of the modern surf industry. Determined to escape a life of factory work and petty crime, headstrong older brother Andy and his wayward surf prodigy younger brother Jimmy form a volatile alliance. Their fledgling business quickly generates a buzz amongst the hard-core local surfers. But soon, the brothers progressive ideas are at odds with the conservative townfolk. And they find themselves embroiled in a violent feud with a drug-dealing biker gang looking to manipulate Drift’s early success. Enter JB, an infamous surf filmmaker who travels in a bus. He amd his gorgeous Hawaiian companion Lani, drift into town just as the brother's business and troubles begin to escalate. Wracked with failure and defeat after a LAPD operation went teribly wrong, Ray Owens has moved to a sleepy, quiet border town well away from the big city. Here as the town's Sheriff he's resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place. After escaping from an FBI prisoner convoy, Gabriel Cortez, the most notorious drug kingpin in the northern hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at two hundred miles per hour, in a Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members to back him up. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction. Alerted by the FBI that they have a tactical response team on the way, it appears that Sommerton Junction is where the whole of U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept Cortez before he makes it across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens accepts responsibility for the face-off, rallying his inexperienced deputies and a local weapons museum owner Lewis Dinkum, who it seems are all that stands in the way of Cortez getting away. When "Last Action Hero" star Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "Aaahhl Be Baack", you took him at his word: didn't you? Well he's back. Big-time! Recommended. 4 STARS

Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma, are at the top of their creative game as filmmakers amid disquieting insinuations about whether it's time for the British director to retire. Alfred is contracted to Paramount and he owes them one more movie. To prove he still has it, he decides his next film (much to everyone's dismay) will be an adaptation of Robert Bloch's novel, "Psycho". When Paramount turn him down; the powerful censorship board advise him they will enforce their decency rules when it comes to his proposed 'shower scene', and no-one wants to finance "Psycho", he and Alma decide they'll have to go it alone. While he forges ahead with his plans for casting and shooting the film, Alma decides she will assist their close friend Whitfield Cook, by working on his latest script. All goes well until Alma finally loses patience with Alfred's roving eye, his jealous behaviour and, the way he is obsessed with controlling his blonde leading ladies. Hopkins gives a believable and fascinating performance as the great Alfred 'Hitch' Hitchcock, but its Mirren who is steals the show. A film that's probably not for everyone: but it should be! Laguna Beach, is a glittering seaside resort in Orange County, California. It's home to the privileged and the bored. Teens with far too much free time and disposable income: men and women kept perpetually young by plastic surgeons; who all make a weekly pilgrimage to that suburban mecca, the high-end shopping mall. The temperate climate and the sparkling blue Pacific Coast gives it all a faux laid-back sheen. 'O' knows all about that. His best friend, Chon: former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary; isn’t sure the world is worth saving. But first he has to negotiate a price for the job with Driver, the Mob's go-between. Driver wants Cogan to do the job himself, but the hitman doesn't agree. On this occassion, he'd prefer to bring in someone else. Cogan thinks there's too many loose-ends to tie up and it could get pretty messy. Aaron Cross is one of six agents in a program called Outcome. Unlike the CIA's Treadstone, Outcome agents have been developed and trained for use by the Department of Defense. More than assassins, Outcome agents are designed for use in isolated, high-risk, long-term intelligence assignments, that will place them deep inside the ranks of those who threaten the free worlds security. The behavioral science that was suggested as the underpinning of the Treadstone agents has been upgraded and advanced, but it is the shared origins of these two programs that makes Outcome so vulnerable as Jason Bourne's story becomes public knowledge. Aaron has given himself to the Outcome project and has just undertaken a training assignment in extreme conditions in Canada, breaking the unofficial record by two days. Dogged by Wolves, he makes for his rendevous where blood samples he's taken throughout the exercise, will be sent back by a drone. He has no knowledge of what is happening in New York, or that he is about to be eliminated. Tel Aviv, Israel, 1999. Rachel, Stephan & David have been venerated for decades by Israel because of the secret mission that they embarked on for their country back in 1965/1966, when the trio tracked down Nazi war criminal Dieter Vogel: the feared Surgeon of Birkenau; in East Berlin. Their original mission was to bring Vogel back to Israel where he would face trial for his war crimes, which include performing horrific medical experiments on young Jewish children during WW2. No-one is more proud of the trio's effort, than Rachel's daughter Sarah who has written a book on the events that led to Vogel's death at the hand of her mother. An uneasy Rachel is called to read an excerpt from the book. As she does so, her mind flashes back to East Germany and the mission that made the three young mossad agents, heroes for life. But, when a tormented David kills himself, Rachel's forced to face her demons. In lesser hands, this could have been quite forgettable. Thankfully it isn't! 4 1/2 STARS.

Somehow Kate does: until a demanding new project, which now requires she drops everything at a minutes notice; puts more pressure on their family life. Should provide welcome relief for cinemagoers in need of a good laugh. 3 1/2 STARS.

Paleontologist Kate Lloyd has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime, joining a Norwegian scientific team that has been searching for, and has now found, an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice. She discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about change. The alien creature will soon awaken. Taken back to the research teams base, a decision is made to take a tissue sample. This simple experiment will free the deadly alien from its frozen prison. What they are about to discover is that this alien can take over a host body, and in the confined living and working huts of the base, that makes the humans easy targets. Now on the loose, this parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish. Kate must now join forces with the crew's pilot, Carter, to keep it from killing them off one at a time. A re-arranging of John Carpenter's 1985 film. It's a scary treat that works. Recommended. 4 STARS.
Fortysomething, straight-laced Cal Weaver is living the dream. Good job, nice house, great kids and married to his high school sweetheart, Emily. But, when Cal learns she's cheated on him and wants a divorce, his 'perfect' life quickly unravels. Worse, in today's single world, Cal, who hasn't dated in decades, stands out as the epitome of un-smooth, spending his free evenings sulking alone at a local bar. Until hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protege to handsome, suave, thirtyish, Jacob. In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and start living his life, he opens Cal's eyes to the many options before him: flirty women, manly drinks and a sense of style that can't be found at Supercuts or The Gap. Yet, despite Cal's makeover and his many new conquests, the one thing that can't be made over is Cal's heart, which seems to keep leading him back to where he began. Good cast. Solid performances. It's very funny, poignant, cruel and just like life: it's crazy, stupid, love. Recommended. 4 STARS.

Every second counts as Nathan and Karen race to evade both the ruthless assassins and, federal operatives. But as his opponents close in, Nathan soon realizes the only way he'll survive and solve the mystery of his elusive biological father: is to stop running and take matters into his own hands. If you're a 'Twilight' fan, you will obviously get more out of "Abduction" than most. Lautner kicks ass! 3 1/2 STARS.

Now, the most unlikely intelligence officer in Her Majesty's Secret Service must stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos. In the years since MI-7's top spy vanished off the grid, English has been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. With the world needing him once again, Johnny English is back in action. With one shot at redemption, he must employ the latest in hi-tech gadgets to unravel a secret web of conspiracy, known only as Vortex, that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7, using every trick in his playbook to protect us all: without failing. Is it fun? The audience I sat in with, certainly gave me, that impression. 3 1/2 STARS.
Death once again proves to be the ultimate stalker as it systematically hunts down a group of friends struggling to escape its relentless pursuit. This time, Death is unleashed on several coworkers as they travell on a Rolland Coach Lines bus to attend a corporate retreat for what should be a quick overnight trip. Held up by roadworks, the group are about to face a terrifying experience that not all will survive. Their fates are seemingly sealed as the bridge tears itself apart. Sam, who has already seen the disaster in a vision, desperately tries to figure out a way to save them, with some degree of success: or so he thinks. But when your number is up, it seems you are only delaying the inevitible. Now death wants to claim each of them for his own, and he'll use any means possible to snuff the life out of these helpless survivors. If you haven't seen the other four films, don't worry. Each has a stand alone storyline. See 'FD5' and then hire the other four on DVD. 4 STARS.

But Hal's humanity is one weapon no member of the Corps has ever had. If he can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be the key to defeating Parallax. The ring chose Hal Jordan; and the ring is never wrong. Plenty of action; loads of laughs; good cast and a bundle of excellent SFX & CGI effects. 4 STARS.

The added bonus is they didn't use 3D. TRULY REMARKABLE! 5 STARS.

But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater's action-packed journey leads him on an explosive and thrilling chase through the streets of Japan, Europe and to the street circuit in London for the final showdown, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world.
