One thing I must point out and clearly put across to readers is that I am not, and let me repeat that, I am not a George Bush supporter, nor am I a member of any left wing or political party. When it comes to film, I, like everyone else have an opinion. An opinion which some people value and respect. Many will agree that over the years I have had a pretty strong opinion at times when it comes to the quality and value of some of those films so it should come as no surprise that after much research and having, like millions of other cinema-goers seen Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" I have something to say about the documentary that is taking the world by storm. I'd also like to point out that I have seen Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11", not once, but twice. Unlike the many Moore converts who have fallen under his spell or those who have come from of a screening believing that everything they have just witnessed is gospel, I was not suitabley convinced or swept up in the euphoria of what I saw. Perhaps that's because like countless others, I have taken an avid interest in the many stories behind the war which have featured here on Australian television and I am already aware that over the years, many of the USA's administrations have lied to the public, manipulated the world stage, the economies of many countries and created in many societies a real bitterness, no a real hatred for the American way of life and their obsessive narrow minded self interests. Of course the answer to how I escaped indoctrination could be simple; I don't have a brain. I mean, there have been a few people who've taken the time to point that out to me. Well meaning types no doubt who failed to understand that even if you are a halfwit with only half a brain, as long as you use that half a brain, you will succeed. But no, the truth is, I've heard all this crap before, and done better. More importantly, done more honestly if you do your homework. Does this then mean that I am recommending you should not take the time to see Michael Moore's documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11"? No way! This is a cleverly pieced together film. A highly entertaining film. But don't take it as the 'gospel'. It's only the gospel according to Michael Moore. Remember, this is a man who has a political hatred for George Bush, and makes no bones about it! This is the man who is quoted as saying; "Enron was a good investment, Nader would win, and North Korea's Kim Jong was changing for the better." The man the Democrats would not allow to speak at presidential candidate John Kerry's recent conference. Kerry is serious about getting into the White House and while he realizes that Michael Moore is doing a great hatchet job on George Bush, he certainly wouldn't want a loose cannon raining on his parade.

The sad truth is, Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" has only fueled a greater political diversion in the USA and incited more hatred and distrust for anything American in those countries where extremists hold sway. As Fantastica Daily's Chuck O'Leary points out; "Paranoid left-wing propaganda from beginning to end". And; "Moore should be proud of himself. He's made a film America-haters everywhere will love." Unfortunately the buck doesn't stop with the Americans as that hatred has filtered down to those of us who live in the 'lucky country'. Try telling that to those who died in the Bali bombing. And not only the families of Australians who died or were maimed but the families of those from other countries including the USA. When it comes to cutting Moore down to size the biggest and 'best informed' detractors appear unanimous in voicing their concerns at Moore's deceit. One of those waging war against Moore is the highly respected Dave Kopel. Boston University Law Professor Randy Barnett summed up Kopel's work this way; "Kopel's lawyerly description of Moore's claims shows the film to be a genuinely impressive accomplishment in a perverse sort of way (the way an ingenious crime is impressive)--a case study in how to convert elements that are mainly true into an impression that is entirely false." But Professor Barnett didn't stop there. When it comes to Moores conspiracy theory he says; "If this much cleverness was required to create the inchoate "conspiracy" (whatever it may be, as it is never really specified by Moore), it suggests there was no such conspiracy. With this much care and effort invested in uncovering and massaging the data, if there really was a conspiracy of the kind Moore suggests, the evidence would line up more neatly behind it." Barnett, like myself notes that Moore is cunning. "I was struck by the sheer cunningness of Moore's film. When you read Kopel, try to detach yourself from any revulsion you may feel at a work of literal propaganda receiving such wide-spread accolades from mainstream politicos, as well as attendance by your friends and neighbors." And isn't that what I said right at the start. Don't go in with blinkers on. It's a terribly clever piece of work Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" and for that I give the man plenty of credit. But, even the most well read Australians don't have a good insight into American politics. Check out the eight websites featured in this review which are just as powerful and convincing in dealing with Michael Moore. Finally, above all else folks, remember this; "Fahrenheit 9/11" was designed to be a winner and at the box-office it has certainly showed itself to be just that. A winner!!

It's hard to believe in light of the many facts that are available that the best story, may be the one which in fact reveals the real truth. No, not Michael Moore's slanted version but rather the one portrayed in some of the powerful, credible documentaries seen here in Australia on SBS and 60 minutes.
