The Story Sascha Petrosevitch [Steven Segal] goes undercover in an attempt to infiltrate a gang of car thieves. Having worked hard to win the trust of Nick Frazier[Ja Rule] his cover is nearly blown when the guys walk into an FBI raid. Sascha takes a couple of bullets for his buddy and dies. He flatlines it for twenty two minutes before he is revived. Wanting to maintain his cover and stay on the trail of the man who had his wife killed, Sascha reunites with Nick some eight months later when they are both transfered to the new escape proof Alcatraz prison. The prison is gearing up for its first execution that of Lester [Bruce Weitz] who was involved in a hiest gone wrong. Not just any hiest but one that involved $US200 million in gold bullion. While the new Alcatraz may be escape proof, it doesn't mean that someone smart can't break into the prison. It seems there are those who would love to get their hands on both Lester and his gold. All hell is about to break loose. The Verdict "At a time when there are so many good movies to see there is little indeed to justify seeing "Half Past Dead" unless you are a big Steven Seagal fan. Only 'just' entertaining there is little to shout about here but you will be after leaving the theatre. Boy is this loud! Leave this for the Segals fans who don't care that all there is to "Half Past Dead" is a thin storyline, a bloody loud soundtrack, millions of bullets that miss at point blank range and a fat, podgey man with a bandanna trying to look hip, but failing miserably. Only high spot is the fun derived from watching Nia Peeples in action. Now there's one bad-ass, kick-ass bitch who is great to watch. Overall the verdict is to give this a big miss.
