"A film that's both laugh out loud funny and surprisingly subtle."
Kevin Thomas LOS ANGELES TIMES
"I laughed even though Lawrence has been doing the paranoid brother shtick since his sketchy, self-titled-sitcom days."
Wesley Morris BOSTON GLOBE
"National Security stays clear of those touchy poignant moments that have ruined so many buddy flicks."
Guylaine Cadorette HOLLYWOOD.COM
"Without losing its comic rhythm for a moment, it is also a withering spoof of black victimism and the corrupting effect of racial solidarity on the American legal system."

If the cares of the world are wearing you down, if that load you're shouldering is getting too heavy to handle or the world appears to be getting to dark to bear there are two steps you can take. The first step is simple, head down to the local cinema and have a good laugh at the latest Martin Lawrence film "National Security". If that doesn't help then the second step is very obvious, you need help and lots of it. Now I'm not saying that "National Security" will cure everyones ills, take away everyones cares and woes, after all dear readers, we all know there are some pretty awful misery guts's out there who, if they had to crack a smile over anything, would drop dead on the spot. No "National Security" is not for them, they are way beyong the help of anything other than a divine intervention. But for many of us the stupidity, the sillyness, the madcap antics of Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn will put a smile on the dial. Let's all face facts, there's no point getting around with a long face, looking and feeling miserable when we all know the power of a smile and a good laugh. Of course there are many out there who are big fans of Martin Lawrence, they will need little or no encouragement at all when it comes to seeing "National Security", they will have a side slapping time at this one. For others who are not too sure or feel a little apprehensive, let me say this, "National Security" is a hell of a lot funnier than "Johnny English". Listening to the audience at the preview screening of "National Security" I was reminded of that old saying "laughter is the best medicine" and there's plenty of it in "National Security".
The Story
Earl Montgomery [Martin Lawrence] has an attitude problem, a big attitude problem. Earl thinks he's capable of doing anything and everything better than anyone else. It's bound to get him in big trouble one day and it does. Earl has just been booted out of the Police Academy. Officer Hank Rafferty [Steve Zahn]has just lost his partner after disturbing a gang breaking into a lock-up facility. When Hank sees Earl acting suspiciously near a vehicle he stops to investigate. Earls attitude is inflaming the situation. The confrontation leads to Hank being charged with assault and then being sentenced to six months in the slammer. Released from prison he ends up working for the "National Security" company. Little does Hank know that Earl is also working for "National Security" too. Determined to track down his partners killer, Hank scans the police radio hoping for a clue. That clue comes with a false alarm at another lock-up facility, one that Earl is supposed to be looking after. Now the bad guys have two lunatics on their tails. The boys from "National Security" are determined to succeed where the cops have failed. But can these bungling, hopeless, security guards match the firepower of their opponents?
The Verdict
"It's a buddy film with a difference. These guys don't even like each other one little bit. Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn provide plenty of contrasting and funny moments in "National Security". A must see film for those who love that silly, politically incorrect, stupid humour. The storyline ain't half bad, the stunts and special effects are good and there are plenty of laughs to be had. Should ease your day."
