And why not, for here is a race steeply enriched with history that has endured for 57 runnings and has spanned two milleniums. Each Memorial day the crowds come to Somerville to watch the riders turn out for a great days racing around the streets of their town. This is world class racing at its best, regarded as most prestigious by those who come to seek glory in Somerville. Next to the USPRO and the national crown this is the one race every rider wants to win. This year will be no different. There can only be one winner at the end of over two hours of hard, fast and exciting racing. That winner will carry the honour, not only as race winner but also the first winner of the tour in a new millenium.
