Welcome to Impact Internet Services coverage of the Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under for 2001. My name is Richard Surfield and once again I will be bringing you all the action of the great race fresh each evening. As in previous years the Impact site will once again feature images from each stage, race reports, results and of course, our spectator galleries. This years event promises so much and where ever I have travelled since January 2000, everyone wants to know about the great race in Adelaide. I had the privilege of covering the First Union Cycling Series in the USA last year and American cycling fans were very excited about this event. Will we one day see an American based team like Mercury race the Tour Down Under? We'll just have to wait and see. And what about here in Australia. The interest is huge and while we as a nation may not have the cycling traditions of Europe we have embraced this event as we do all major sporting events, with gusto and a passion usually reserved for our "aussie rules". with the Glenelg criterium on Tuesday 16th of January. Lets hope that once again the elements will be kind to both the riders and spectators alike.
