DANIEL POLSON...para-olympian
On winning Gold in the sprint
"I'm very pleased I'm stoked, I can't believe it. I came here hoping to win the kilo, kinda didn't ride
as well as I hoped to, did a personal best in the pursuit and followed that up with a win in the Sprint".
On the format for the sprint race
"Unfortunately we don't have sprint matches, the authorities still haven't come up with a system yet for sprint
matches for amputees, we just do a 200 metre time trial and fortunately on the day I pipped Paul Lake by .02
of second. So I was very happy".
On the the Para Olympics
"Hopefully I'll be named in the squad tonight(saturday) that is not the team, but it is the squad that will be
whittled down to the team which will be named in July.Till then I will train as though I am in the team specifically
for the Kilo and hopefully try and go away with the team to America. Hopefully I can team up with Paul and we can
bring home the gold for Australia".
KATHY WATT
On coming back and winning gold
"It's really great to win another Australian Pursuit championship".
On training for the championships
"The last six weeks I've trained specifically for the track and last week I rode the individual time trial on the road,
that took a little bit away from my preperation."
Thoughts on the new velodrome
"I think the velodrome is very good, if we get hotter conditions and lower humidity I think the track will be very fast.
The turns here are a lot smoother and and makes for faster times".
GARY NEIWAND
That golden feeling again
"Any wins great. The Keiren has always been a bit iffy, but the tactics I wanted to use I used and there the ones I thought
would get me accross the line first and it proved right. So yeh I'm pretty happy".
On his selection chances
"Oh....no idea. I'm just trying to do the best I can out on the track, to throw my name in the ring as much as I can, to put it up
in front of the selectors as much as I can. So its all up to the selectors".
And his future plans
"No...nothings planned at this stage, just depends. If I make the team...then I think we're training in Australia for the next month,
month and a half. But if I don't make the team I'm going to Darwin for a holiday or going somewhere for a holiday".
RYAN BAYLEY
Two gold medals and how does it feel
"Yeh I'm pretty happy with it." "I was going for the national 200 metre track record but the tracks a little cold".
Training with Darren Hill must help.
"He's been very hard to train with, you know he's very quick, a world champion, its hard to keep up with and he pushes very hard".
And your looking forward to the world juniors
"Yeh thats as far ahead as I'm basically thinking and just going on to seniors. Just from my times and how I've been riding and that, it's looking
pretty good for selection".
