McLoughlin & Dangerfield Top The List
For the second year in a row two riders, Carolyn Dangerfield [DSV&LCC] & Tony McLoughlin [TEAM MITTIGA] have won the states top sports award for veteran cyclists sponsored by Herb Valley, the SAVVCC and Impact Internet Services. Launched in 2000 the consistency award was expanded this year [thanks to the co-operation of both the SAVCC and Herb Valley] with an increase in prizemoney from $1000 to $1500. This allowed the promoters of the awards an increased prizelist which paid 1st to 15th place for men, 1st - 3rd for the womens division while retaining the two [2]special annual encouragement awards for competitors over 60 years of age. With full support from products sponsors Herb Valley, Gatorade, High 5 Sports Nutrition, Australian Liquor Marketers, Brians Olive Shop, Russo Grove Olive Oil, McWilliams Wines, Bolle` & Bicycling Australia the awards were well supported throughout the year and why not! The two major winners in the Mens & Womens division each received $250, Bolle` sports glasses valued at $180, a years subscription to Bicycling Australia, Herb Valley presentation pack valued at $60, Russo Grove Olive Oil, plus products from Brians Olive Shop, Gatorade & High 5. More importantly the awards were promoted to encourage veteran riders to support racing in "OPEN" events on a regular or consistent basis and thanks to the two clubs the VLCC & the SDV&LCC this certainly has been obvious this year. To further encourage riders, each of the nine races had a special Encouragement Award for one male and one female rider [where ever possible].

Herb Valley State Sales Manager Mark Salter congratulates Tony McLoughlin & Carolyn Dangerfield on their wins
Sponsored by Australian Liquor Marketers, Brians Olive Shop in McLaren Vale, High 5 Sports Nutrition Bars and Gatorade, riders were rewarded for participation and effort with a special products pack and inclussion in a feature on the "International Cycling Gazette" web site [ see here].
